Realtime Redesign

by Teli

A few days ago I was inspired to finally redesign the Teli Design Studio website. This time around, I wanted simple and straightforward–focus on the services and the content.

TeliDesign.com Doodles After much doodling and some planning, I decided to keep the front page as simple as possible (a single sentence, actually), and then branch right.

There are only three links on the homepage (aside from the footer link) which lead to the ‘About’, ‘Blog’, and ‘Freebies’ pages. From each of those respective pages, a visitor will be able to access my portfolio, previous musings & articles, downloadable delights, and my contact form.

The color scheme is also as simple as the homepage: black, white, and blue-toned grays. In fact, it was built from the logo sketch. (And for the curious, the logo was done entirely in Painter 11.)

Granted, not everything is finish. In fact, I’m only about 45% finished with the site, but I decided to “make it live” and do a real-time redesign, sort of. I’ve already upgraded the site to the latest version of WordPress and moved some things around.

Now I need to…

  • finish tweaking the theme, to include tightening up the overall layout
  • rewrite some content and update pages
  • retool the comments section on the individual posts
  • create a proper 404 page for all those errors I’ve no doubt caused
  • add some plugins and helpful features
  • add a few more custom image elements (i.e. the search/comment forms & headings, etc.)
  • and clean up the files/folders

I’m sure there’s more, but that’s the list for now, and over the next few weeks, I’ll mark off each of the items as they are completed. I may even write a few more design notes about the process.

Redesigning Teli Design

by Teli

This probably should have been done before I even left for Boston, but it’s time for another face lift.

Those who know me probably know that I like to change the way my websites look as often as I change clothes, but I’m trying to break that habit.

But, I’ve had this design for nearly a year now and it’s time that I started reorganizing my websites a bit.

So, for the next few weeks I will be planning a re-launch of Teli Design that should hopefully make it much easier to navigate, get the information you need, and get a hold of me if necessary.

Also, those looking for the free WordPress themes won’t need to dig very much for them either.

Happy Thanksgiving

I wanted to wish everyone a wonderful and happy Thanksgiving. Remember, even when things seem their worst, we always have something to be thankful for!

For my international friends and those who do not celebrate Thanksgiving, I wish you a very happy holiday season.

The Perfect Desktop Blogging Client

by Teli

I’ve been musing on what I believe would make the perfect desktop blogging client. I’ve used a number of different blog clients and taking inspiration from each of them, decided what would make the perfect blogging client for me. (more…)
