I Didn’t Even Know Yahoo! Had A Toolbar For Firefox
Okay, I need to admit that I’m not an avid Yahoo! user although I have a user ID so my clients can IM me if necessary and I do subscribe to the news feed, but I had no idea that Yahoo! even had a toolbar for Firefox.
But, BetaNews.com reported that just a day after Google’s own toolbar for Firefox release, Yahoo! refreshed theirs:
“Yahoo’s Firefox toolbar replicates many of the features it already offers customers using Microsoft’s Internet Explorer Web browser such as an integrated search box, content discovery, a RSS subscription manager, protection against spyware and server-side preferences that can be recalled from any PC connected to the Internet.”
I’ve already installed and have been testing the new Google toolbar for Firefox for the last couple of days and there are some noteable differences between it and the Googlebar plugin (as well as the Firefox PR plugin - specifically how the PR data is collected).
The Yahoo! toolbar for Firefox integrates with many of the Yahoo! network features such as the My Yahoo! hub for mail, watch lists, news, etc. and the toolbar can give you one click access.
Since I’m just now catching wind of this and I’m a Firefox extension collect-o-holic, I will most likely be downloading the toolbar to compare and contrast the uses and functionality, then report back later with my findings.
